Requirements
- 3+ years of workers’ compensation lost time and medical only claim handling experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proficiency with computer systems, Word, Excel, and Image Right.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel throughout assigned states.
- Ability to work effectively with team members.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with insureds, injured workers, brokers, and attorneys to determine coverage and liability.
- Administer timely indemnity and medical benefits.
- Evaluate claim exposure and resolve claims, including managing litigated cases and attending mediations or hearings.
- Develop and track litigation plans with defense counsel to control expenses.
- Maintain quality claim files and implement managed care strategies.
- Interact with state and federal boards to establish and maintain reserves.
- Mentor and train less experienced claim department representatives.
- Prepare and present files for agent, broker, and insured reviews.
