Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Robotics, Aerospace, Computer Science, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of post-academic experience in systems engineering for sophisticated, safety-critical cyber-physical systems such as autonomous vehicles or robotics.
  • Proven track record of designing, documenting, and executing robust V&V programs.
  • Strong scripting or programming skills in Python, C++, or MATLAB/Simulink for simulation and validation tool development.
  • Experience with structured systems engineering methodologies and requirements management tools like Jama, DOORS, or Jira.
  • Familiarity with heavy machinery, agricultural equipment, or off-highway autonomous vehicles preferred.
  • Knowledge of functional safety frameworks such as ISO 26262, ISO 19014, ISO 21448/SOTIF, or IEC 61508 preferred.
  • Experience validating machine learning models or perception stacks in safety-critical applications.
  • Familiarity with robotics middleware frameworks like ROS/ROS2.

Responsibilities

  • Own the requirements lifecycle by eliciting, defining, and maintaining system and subsystem-level requirements across hardware, software, and machine learning components.
  • Maintain traceability by managing rigorous requirements traceability matrices from operational concepts to component specifications and test cases.
  • Drive V&V strategy by designing, documenting, and executing comprehensive verification and validation plans for simulated and physical field-testing environments.
  • Build validation tooling by developing and maintaining custom simulation frameworks to analyze vehicle performance and safety boundaries.
  • Execute risk mitigation by facilitating FMEAs, FTAs, and Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARA) to ensure system safety.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to bridge technical gaps between machine learning researchers, embedded software, hardware designers, and safety managers.
