Requirements
- Demonstrated, deep expertise developing complex Android applications with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Track record of leading initiatives beyond individual features
- Strong command of Android UI/UX design and architecture principles
- Experience setting technical standards and driving their adoption
- Familiarity with unit testing, UI testing, and snapshot testing
- Experience using Claude Code or a similar generative AI coding platform
- Experience with Android-specific components like Autofill Service and Accessibility Service
- Experience with Google Play internal and beta testing tracks
- Proven ability to mentor and coach other engineers
- Strength in navigating ambiguity and framing complex problems for stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert and authority on our Android codebase, setting technical direction and standards for the platform
- Lead the design and implementation of complex initiatives that span multiple sprints or quarters
- Own and drive resolution of the most complex technical problems in the Android domain
- Establish and uphold engineering standards and best practices through code reviews, architectural guidance, and mentorship
- Drive architectural decisions and partner with the Architecture team for cross-system work
- Act as a force multiplier: unblock the team, mentor engineers, and grow collective technical capability
- Shape the Android technical vision and roadmap in partnership with management and stakeholders
- Identify risks, dependencies, and technical debt while guiding the breakdown of large initiatives
- Take a leadership role in hiring, including conducting technical interviews
- Stay updated on Android ecosystem trends and contribute to bug fixes or community pull requests
