Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant experience as an attorney and compliance professional.
- Deep technical expertise in sanctions laws and regulations.
- Experience dealing with OFAC and other authoritative bodies in major jurisdictions.
- Sound knowledge of sanctions issues in complex transactions and financial products.
- Effective communication skills for all levels of the organization.
- Proven leadership aptitude and change agility.
- Ability to work proficiently across diverse geographies and cultures.
- Understanding of multi-jurisdictional issues and data privacy/transmission.
- Familiarity with anti-money laundering (AML) and financial crimes frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject matter expert and lead counsel for sanctions-related legal issues.
- Act as the primary point of contact for matters pertaining to sanctions legal risks.
- Advise on compliance with US/OFAC sanctions and EU regulations.
- Collaborate with the global sanctions compliance team to mitigate sanctions risks.
- Provide expert legal representation in filings and communications with OFAC.
- Handle voluntary self-disclosures, license applications, and legal injunction responses.
- Advise on contract and transaction-related sanctions questions.
- Develop and implement industry-leading sanctions strategies.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel.
