Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience as an attorney and compliance professional.
  • Deep technical expertise in sanctions laws and regulations.
  • Experience dealing with OFAC and other authoritative bodies in major jurisdictions.
  • Sound knowledge of sanctions issues in complex transactions and financial products.
  • Effective communication skills for all levels of the organization.
  • Proven leadership aptitude and change agility.
  • Ability to work proficiently across diverse geographies and cultures.
  • Understanding of multi-jurisdictional issues and data privacy/transmission.
  • Familiarity with anti-money laundering (AML) and financial crimes frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert and lead counsel for sanctions-related legal issues.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for matters pertaining to sanctions legal risks.
  • Advise on compliance with US/OFAC sanctions and EU regulations.
  • Collaborate with the global sanctions compliance team to mitigate sanctions risks.
  • Provide expert legal representation in filings and communications with OFAC.
  • Handle voluntary self-disclosures, license applications, and legal injunction responses.
  • Advise on contract and transaction-related sanctions questions.
  • Develop and implement industry-leading sanctions strategies.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel.
