Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or a related field, preferably in podiatry or a surgical specialty.
- Strong knowledge of podiatry-related medical terminology, DRG, and coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS).
- Familiarity with medical records management and the healthcare reimbursement process.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, insurance representatives, and patients.
- Proficient in using medical office software, EHRs, and billing systems.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance, fraud prevention, and audit readiness.
- ICD-10: 1 year (Required)
Responsibilities
- Process medical billing claims accurately using ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, and HCPCS for podiatric procedures.
- Review patient records for billing completeness.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits before claim submission.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and conduct medical collections.
- Maintain accurate billing transaction records.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve billing/coding discrepancies.
- Stay updated on medical billing regulations and coding practices.
- Utilize medical office systems for billing processes and patient confidentiality.
- Prepare for and respond to payer/government audits.
- Track and analyze KPIs like denial rates and days in accounts receivable.
- Support contract negotiations and manage appeals/denials specific to podiatry coverage.
