Medical Biller & Coder - Podiatry

Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or a related field, preferably in podiatry or a surgical specialty. Strong knowledge of podiatry-related medical terminology, DRG, and coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS). Familiarity with medical records management and the healthcare reimbursement process. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, insurance representatives, and patients. Proficient in using medical office software, EHRs, and billing systems. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance, fraud prevention, and audit readiness. ICD-10: 1 year (Required)

Process medical billing claims accurately using ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, and HCPCS for podiatric procedures. Review patient records for billing completeness. Verify insurance coverage and benefits before claim submission. Follow up on unpaid claims and conduct medical collections. Maintain accurate billing transaction records. Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve billing/coding discrepancies. Stay updated on medical billing regulations and coding practices. Utilize medical office systems for billing processes and patient confidentiality. Prepare for and respond to payer/government audits. Track and analyze KPIs like denial rates and days in accounts receivable. Support contract negotiations and manage appeals/denials specific to podiatry coverage.
