Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in emerging tech hardware manufacturing as a hands-on manufacturing engineer or hands on product design engineer or advanced manufacturing technician building and launching products to market.
  • Expert in multiple CAD systems (SolidWorks, NX etc.) and PLM systems (Windchill, Enovia, Teamcenter etc.) and understand the stage appropriate data flow that allows high change velocity manufacturing to thrive.
  • Experience in prototype manufacturing and high-volume manufacturing environments (you understand they are not the same but are a journey), preferably in large, containerized products such as HVAC or BESS systems in pulsed line manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering, Projects Team and Supply Chain teams to ensure manufacturability of components and systems, focusing on quality, efficiency, and obsession on ownership of cost optimization through design for manufacturing.
  • Own advanced manufacturing techniques, including automation, robotics, bulk, batch and pulsed and single piece manufacturing technologies and processes with a detailed eye to avoid manufacturing inertia both for inhouse manufacturing and 3rd party contract manufacturing.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by implementing lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other industry-leading methodologies and documenting ‘Factory as a Product’ to enable rapid deployment of globally distributed installed capacity.
  • Own the launch and run off of new manufacturing lines and ensure seamless scaling from prototype to full-scale production at both in-house and contract manufacturing sites often running multiple sites concurrently to phase in lower cost options.
  • Support capital expenditure planning and manage budgets for new capital investments into installed capacity and plant upgrades.
  • Travel 15-25% to visit suppliers and manufacturing sites and 15-25% to customer ops sites. Customer field ops and distributed manufacturing sites are global. Up to 50% travel.
