Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in geography, earth sciences, or a related quantitative field.
- Approximately 3 years of experience working with geospatial data science.
- Proficiency using QGIS.
- Proficient in Python programming within open-source geospatial ecosystem (Geopandas, Rasterio/GDAL, etc.).
- Familiarity with raster and vector formats (e.g., GeoTIFF, GeoJSON).
- Experience in creating production-quality maps.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Basic familiarity with Git source control.
Responsibilities:
- Extract actionable flood information from large structured and unstructured datasets.
- Analyze and validate historical flood time series using secondary data sources.
- Identify and rectify false positives and negatives in flood maps.
- Create visually attractive maps and animations to showcase flood data.
- Identify discrepancies in data and propose solutions.
- Collaborate with the team on tools and workflows.
