About Birch

Birch transforms how marketing teams operate by providing a powerful toolbox for content creation, collaboration, and ad campaign management. Our platform handles billions in ad spend, serving over 800 companies and 5,500 marketers. We are recognized as one of Meta's fastest-growing partners and are officially backed by both Meta and Google, delivering agent-led marketing tools with a focus on data-driven efficiency. We empower marketers to optimize ad campaigns across platforms like Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, and Snapchat, moving from manual oversight to automated, strategic execution.

How We Work

We are a remote-first team operating globally, with a central hub in Barcelona. Our CEO describes the company as a 'rock band,' emphasizing a culture where team members genuinely like each other and enjoy creating meaningful work. We hire senior-level professionals who are self-driven and thrive in an environment of high autonomy, offering space to shape technical decisions and drive projects forward. Our culture values continuous learning and proactive problem-solving.

Engineering at Birch

Birch's backend operates on a unique dual-language architecture, combining a Ruby on Rails monolith for the web application with over 20 Go microservices. These microservices power our core automation engines, APIs, and heavy processing, allowing us to manage over $2 billion in annual ad spend and execute 240 million automated actions per year. Engineers work across both Ruby and Go daily, requiring deep expertise in Ruby on Rails and confidence in Go. We also demand expert-level knowledge of PostgreSQL, understanding database scaling strategies, indexing, and query optimization. Our infrastructure is intentionally simple, utilizing EC2 instances, Docker containers, Terraform, and Ansible, empowering engineers to own how their code runs in production. We are actively building new products and services, shaping architecture, and making key technical decisions, which means you won't just maintain existing systems. Our stack also includes Redis, Sidekiq, GitHub Actions for deployment, and Grafana, Prometheus, and Sentry for monitoring. We are constantly updating our technology stack to avoid legacy systems.
