Requirements
- Have 3+ years of experience in Industrial Design or Product Design.
- Have 2+ years designing mass-produced consumer, HME, or DME (patient care) products.
- Have experience taking products from concept to mass production.
- Bring experience in mechanical design, prototyping, simulation, and testing.
- Have experience working within manufacturing and supplier constraints.
- Have experience communicating and collaborating with Asian/Chinese manufacturers.
- Have experience designing products for marketplaces influenced by public customer reviews.
- Have experience with mechanical CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or Onshape.
- Have experience with cost modeling and margin-focused design decisions.
- Understand ergonomics, usability, and user-centered design principles.
- Be able to structure qualitative and quantitative insights into actionable design improvements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design process from concept development to production-ready solutions, including DFM and DFA analysis.
- Translate product briefs, caregiver feedback, VOC data, and customer reviews into user-centered product concepts.
- Select materials that balance aesthetics, structural durability, and cost-efficiency.
- Create CAD models and technical design and engineering documentation, using FEA and structural simulations to validate mechanical integrity and performance.
- Design and validate mockups, prototypes, and functional test samples.
- Collaborate with engineers, sourcing partners, and marketing to balance creativity with cost targets, supplier capabilities, and timelines.
- Optimize design-to-prototype cycle times and design efficiency.
- Communicate with international manufacturing partners, including Asian/China suppliers.
- Develop production-ready samples and maintain a scalable design documentation system.
