Requirements
- Knowledge of the United States political system and elections.
- Experience working with databases and spreadsheets.
- Experience in writing and/or editing; professional writing or editing experience is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to multitask, set priorities, and follow through.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff across departments.
- Ability to work periodic evenings and weekends.
- Interest in or experience using AI tools to increase productivity.
- Familiarity with Google Suite, Slack, and Asana is helpful.
Responsibilities
- Monitor assigned media, political websites, and official government sources for breaking news.
- Update relevant articles based on identified stories.
- Track and update information in Ballotpedia’s database and ensure data accuracy on the site and in the database.
- Review lists of federal, state, and local officeholders and candidates to verify data.
- Research officeholders, candidates, elections, and jurisdictions, including website addresses, social media handles, and upcoming election dates.
- Write clear, concise, and neutral content about complex topics.
- Proofread content and follow processes, systems, and procedures assigned by editors and supervisors.
- Complete tracking spreadsheets documenting the number and types of updates made.
