Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or an engineering field.
- At least 5 years of experience supporting databases in an enterprise environment.
- At least half of that database experience must be primarily in a PostgreSQL environment.
- Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL version 15.x and MS SQL Server 2019/2022.
- Experience supporting an RDBMS in both Linux and Windows environments.
- Experience with AWS Postgres RDS, SQL Server RDS, Aurora RDS, and EC2.
- Experience with database high availability and replication technologies, such as AlwaysOn or Postgres HA.
- Scripting and automation experience.
- Working knowledge of the systems development and deployment lifecycle and large-scale systems administration.
- Ability to troubleshoot IT systems and formulate resolutions, including making decisions in high-pressure situations.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain databases and hosts for production, development, and test environments.
- Ensure database availability and recoverability meet established SLAs and guidelines.
- Resolve database issues and monitor and tune performance, reviewing logs and verifying scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Produce performance reports to support capacity planning.
- Automate system administration with a focus on resource efficiency and scalability.
- Design, implement, and maintain database security based on best practices, company standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist developers with database query and procedure design and tuning, and advise on proposed architecture.
- Migrate legacy database structures to support modernization of the payment processing platform using microservice architecture.
- Support the disaster recovery strategy, multi-region active-active setup, and data pipeline automation to Snowflake.
- Create and assist users in creating BI reports, provide technical guidance to data stakeholders, and maintain procedural documentation.
