Requirements
- Be self-motivated.
- Communicate remotely with excellent written communication skills.
- Explain technical concepts to a nontechnical audience.
- Use graphic design skills consistent with the organization’s current brand tone and voice.
- Assess the current site critically and recommend changes based on UX/UI and user data.
- Commit approximately 5 hours per week; hours are flexible.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain clean, on-brand page layouts and visual elements.
- Design or refresh key website pages, including home, adopt, volunteer, donate, events, and about pages.
- Ensure pages are mobile responsive and consistent across devices.
- Select, optimize, and place images and graphics that support storytelling and calls to action.
- Implement requested text, photo, form, and button updates.
- Improve website navigation, calls to action, and ease of use.
- Support accessibility best practices, including readable text, alt text, contrast, and keyboard navigation where possible.
- Check for broken links, outdated content, and visual or layout issues; optimize page speed and image sizes where practical.
- Document design decisions, page structure, and simple how-tos for other volunteers.
- Respond to website requests and recommend improvements to engagement, adoptions, volunteer sign-ups, or donations.
