Requirements
- Have documented commercial experience building production real-time audio pipelines; batch transcription, offline STT, or basic RAG experience alone is insufficient.
- Have practical knowledge of at least two streaming components among STT, MT, and TTS.
- Have experience with tools such as Pipecat, LiveKit, Vapi, or custom Python orchestration layers.
- Have production experience with WebRTC, including audio transport behavior under degraded network conditions.
- Have experience instrumenting and measuring latency on real mobile devices, including p95 percentiles and tail behavior.
- Have experience selecting AI providers that meet strict data-protection requirements, including EU hosting and zero data retention.
- Have spoken and written English at a minimum C1 level for technical discussions and documentation.
- Clearly show real-time audio or voice-pipeline experience on the CV.
- Nice to have: React Native and native audio modules in Swift or Kotlin.
- Nice to have: Bluetooth audio experience on iOS or Android.
- Nice to have: on-device AI inference or voice cloning / speaker similarity experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and verify per-component latency budgets across VAD, transport, STT, MT, TTS, jitter buffering, and playback.
- Evaluate STT, MT, and TTS providers for streaming support, EU data residency, and zero data retention.
- Design an automated AI-to-AI call evaluation framework and define quality gates based on p95 measurements on physical devices.
- Prepare the repository foundation, CI/CD, and starting architecture for the Alpha build.
- Work directly with the client’s Fractional CTO in architecture discussions and defend technology decisions.
- Create clear architecture specifications and reports in English.
