Requirements
- Have led a data platform build from design through production launch.
- Have completed at least one implementation involving an external partner, representing the hiring organization.
- Have experience leading an engineering team.
- Have practical knowledge of at least two distinct data platform stacks, such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Microsoft Fabric, sufficient to compare them.
- Design Lakehouse or equivalent architectures and understand trade-offs between architectural patterns.
- Know dimensional data modeling and approaches to intermediate data layers.
- Apply software engineering practices to data, including version control, CI/CD, automated testing, and environment separation.
- Design data access controls in the semantic layer.
- Estimate and control processing costs in a consumption-based pricing model.
- Manage technology vendors, including setting acceptance criteria, evaluating delivery quality, and negotiating scope.
Responsibilities
- Design the data platform architecture and recommend the technology stack.
- Set team standards for modeling, version control, automated testing, code reviews, environment management, and documenting architectural decisions.
- Design data security and access controls for the semantic layer and reporting platform.
- Own data completeness, freshness, data contract SLAs, and incidents raised by data consumers.
- Estimate and control processing costs in a consumption-based pricing model.
- Take over and lead the development of the existing engineering team.
