Requirements
- Have 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including work at Staff, Principal, or Tech Lead level.
- Bring strong, recent hands-on experience in backend software development.
- Be proficient in Python, or in another backend or systems language such as Go, Java, Rust, or C++, and be ready to make Python the primary language.
- Have practical Linux knowledge.
- Have taken a project, service, or significant feature from initial idea through requirements, architecture, implementation, release, and production support.
- Have experience communicating directly with business and product stakeholders and turning ambiguous ideas into concrete technical plans.
- Bring architecture and technical decision-making experience, including personal implementation of solutions.
- Have experience defining solution scope, priorities, and trade-offs.
- Have experience monitoring released solutions and iterating based on technical, product, or business metrics.
- Have worked in both fast-moving startup environments and larger, established companies.
- Actively use AI-assisted development tools in daily work and have a clear approach to validating AI-generated output.
- Have excellent English communication skills for regular work with technical and business stakeholders.
- Nice to have: experience in cybersecurity or application security, vulnerability management, security patching, CVE-related work, software supply chain security, operating system internals, low-level Linux development, open-source contributions, or developer tooling.
Responsibilities
- Take unclear business and technical problems from initial idea to production solution.
- Clarify requirements and agree on technical plans directly with business and product stakeholders.
- Design solution architecture and make key technical decisions on projects.
- Implement and ship backend code, primarily in Python.
- Define the scope, priorities, and trade-offs of technical solutions.
- Develop products that keep Linux infrastructure secure and supported, including systems past their standard lifecycle.
- Move between projects within the product area and act as the primary engineer on an initiative where needed.
- Monitor solutions after release and iterate using technical, product, and business metrics.
- Debug, prototype, and review code as part of daily engineering work.
- Use AI-assisted tools throughout the development workflow and validate their output before shipping.
