Requirements
- Current certification through AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P); CCA and CPC-A are not accepted.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Facility Coder.
- At least 1 year of paid work experience in Observations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas) and Outlook (email management and scheduling).
- Working knowledge of EMR and billing systems.
- Access to a phone, reliable internet, and current coding reference materials.
- Ability to work independently from a home office.
- Must reside in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Provide CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding for a minimum of 1-4 specialties.
- Perform facility observation coding with expertise in injections and infusions.
- Accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
- Interpret coding guidelines for accurate code assignment and reimbursement impact.
- Maintain ongoing productivity and quality scores of 95% or higher.
- Comply with AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding and internal policies regarding privacy and security.
