Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as an application engineer or equivalent demonstrated judgment.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript for both React frontend and Node.js backend development.
- Experience working with GraphQL APIs and document databases (e.g., MongoDB, Apollo).
- Deep understanding of database internals, including schema design, indexing, and query performance.
- Experience debugging event-driven systems (queues, retries, idempotency).
- Demonstrated ability to build, review, and ship code using AI tools (e.g., Claude Code) while maintaining security and domain invariants.
- Security-conscious mindset with experience handling Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Strong written communication skills for creating runbooks and incident documentation.
- Ability to hold production and PHI-scoped access, including passing required background checks.
- US work authorization.
Responsibilities
- Serve as first responder for application-level production issues during US business hours, owning them from investigation through the shipped fix.
- Share production coverage with the CTO and infrastructure engineer.
- Maintain release health, including branch synchronization and CI pipeline integrity.
- Harden AI-generated code by implementing robust error handling, edge case coverage, and security reviews for PHI.
- Build observability tools, including error reporting, synthetic canaries, and alerts.
- Manage the health of the data layer, including schema design, index optimization, and data migrations.
- Productionize and monitor the ADT (HL7v2) ingestion pipeline.
