Requirements:
  • Have bachelors and masters degree(s) in Law or a Juris Doctor degree.
  • At least 12+ years of work experience preferably with prior in-house work experience in blockchain, cryptocurrency and virtual asset industry.
  • Strong work ethic and multi-tasking ability with aptitude in problem-solving.
  • Excellent drafting, communication and negotiation skills and willingness to work under tight deadlines and pressure.
  • Highly motivated and able to function successfully in a remote though highly collaborative setting.
Responsibilities:
  • Provides expert legal advice to the CEO, executive team, and board of directors on various legal issues affecting the company’s operations, transactions, and business decisions.
  • Lead legal documentation and legal operations, instituting scalable processes for reviewing existing and new products, services, and procedures while documenting all legal proceedings.
  • Advise and collaborate with various teams (Product, Engineering, Business, Compliance & Risk, and HR) on diverse range of issues.
  • Stay abreast of U.S. and international laws on crypto regulation, money transmission, financial services, privacy, data security, and consumer protections.
  • Lead the company's legal disputes, litigation, and claims and collaborate with external counsel only when necessary and work to resolve legal matters efficiently.
  • Lead corporate governance requirements and organize board and board committee meeting agendas and materials.
  • Review, negotiate, and draft various contracts, M&A documentation, agreements, and legal documents related to the company’s operations, partnerships, and transactions.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to assess the impact of new regulations and industry developments and keep management apprised for business planning.
