Requirements:
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge and specialized training equivalent to a two-year certification course in medical record keeping principles.
  • Requires certification as a CPC, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC-A, RHIA, or RHIT in active status.
  • Six months providing professional coding services or related healthcare experience.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ICD and CPT coding principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote setting using common office programs and coding software.
Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates medical records and assigns appropriate clinical diagnosis and procedure codes according to national coding guidelines.
  • Abstracts clinical diagnoses and procedure codes into electronic medical records, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Provides quality assurance for medical records, ensuring compliance with coding rules and regulations.
  • Compiles daily and monthly reports; tabulates data from medical records for research or analysis purposes.
