Requirements:

Master's degree or PhD with multiple years of experience in forestry, applied forest ecology, or a related discipline.
Field work experience in forestry, research, or forest ecology.
Background in reforestation research or projects.
Analytical experience in forest carbon accounting or protocols, and tropical or North American forestry.
Ability to work professionally in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
Strong communication and team-building skills.

Responsibilities:

Work with supply team to identify high quality carbon projects for Carbon Direct’s portfolio.
Provide scientific expertise to developers of ARR and IFM projects according to Carbon Direct’s quality criteria.
Lead due diligence teams ensuring adherence to high-quality carbon dioxide removal standards.
Assess economic, social, and environmental co-benefits of forestry-related climate action.
Conduct ongoing monitoring, reporting, and verification for long-term forest projects.
Write reports and communicate findings to the public and policymakers.
