Requirements:

• JD degree and U.S. state bar membership in good standing.
• Minimum of 5 years of combined experience as an attorney focused on data privacy.
• CIPP(US) certification.
• Experience in evaluating legal risks and providing actionable advice.
• Ability to explain legal issues to non-legal audiences.
• Experience in managing cross-functional initiatives.
• Contract negotiation and drafting experience.
• Knowledge of key data privacy laws like FERPA, COPPA, CCPA/CPRA, FTC Act, and GDPR.
• Experience in K-12 education technology privacy.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with internal stakeholders to maintain compliance with data privacy laws.
• Obtain knowledge of Code.org operations to support product design and negotiate privacy agreements.
• Create and maintain privacy policies.
• Monitor privacy trends and analyze new regulations.
• Provide advice to mitigate data risks and ensure legal alignment.
• Liaise with external counsel as needed.
• Develop and manage various contracts.
• Respond to legal questions regarding privacy and data.
• Provide training on privacy and security.
• Maintain the Trademark inventory and represent the organization in the privacy community.
