Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent training or work experience.
• 5+ years of experience building production software systems.
• Experience with database systems such as MySQL, Cassandra, Couchbase, Elasticsearch, and NoSQL.
• Experience managing BI database systems, preferably Vertica.
• Experience with hybrid cloud database systems.
• Familiarity with distributed event streaming platforms like Kafka.
• Experience with architectures that are scalable and fault-tolerant.
• Experience tuning distributed systems for performance.
• Proven ability to work in a remote environment.

Responsibilities:

• Understand the design and architecture of highly-available and fault-tolerant cloud-based databases.
• Collaborate with the team to take ownership of complex solutions and deliver high-quality results.
• Investigate problems in complex distributed architectures and propose solutions.
• Proactively manage capacity issues to minimize impact.
• Support database clients in optimizing usage and evolving data models.
• Promote solutions that maintain software quality and speed.
• Automate database infrastructure and provide self-service tools for teams.
