Requirements:
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating full environment work in both 3D software and game engine covering modelling, surfacing, texturing, and lighting.
  • Full proficiency in modern game development software; Maya, Substance, Photoshop, Z-Brush.
  • Strong experience with Unreal Engine or similar game engines.
  • Proven experience of full game development cycles from concept to completion of live product releases.
  • Demonstrable technical knowledge of real-time engine budgets and optimizations.
  • Knowledge and expertise of the fundamental art principles such as colour, composition, value/lighting, anatomy, form, perspective.
  • Ability to deconstruct, understand and adapt to various art styles successfully.
  • A deep artistic toolbox with multiple approaches and processes to visual development and problem-solving.
  • A strong enthusiasm for games and a deep understanding of game development processes.
Responsibilities:
  • Own and deliver large and complex areas of the game environment.
  • Autonomously produce inspiring benchmark quality environment assets adhering to the art direction of the game in consideration of technical constraints.
  • Guarantee visual consistency by understanding and following the art style guide.
  • Use mechanisms and strong artistic judgment to evaluate asset quality and make corrections.
  • Work collaboratively with designers and the wider art team to produce the best player focused interactive experience.
  • Research, collate and prepare reference and source materials for the creation of in-game environments.
  • Ensure the technical delivery of frame rate with consideration of budgets, lighting, and shaders.
  • Work with Outsource teams providing feedback and integrating artwork.
  • Be a major driver and voice in cross-discipline visual development, brainstorms, and pitches.
  • Share knowledge and level up via mentoring, coaching and critique sessions for junior artists.
  • Effectively scope, plan and time cost out deliverables.
  • Create technical documentation to support visual direction, such as production guides.
  • Encourage and promote good team and studio morale in a creative environment.
