Systems Software Engineer (Postgres)

Requirements:

• At least 4 years of production experience in software engineering.
• Experience developing Postgres features and/or extensions.
• Experience with maintaining and developing large production systems, whether it is Postgres or not.
• A passion for building systems software, particularly in performance engineering and distributed systems.
• A strong sense of ownership, accountability, and pride in work.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that PostgreSQL runs smoothly on the Neon cloud platform by contributing to interfaces between PostgreSQL and storage system, Neon control plane for monitoring, and the open-source PostgreSQL project and its ecosystem.
• Participate in the design and implementation of Postgres features.
• Write low-level systems code.
• Deploy changes to a farm of over 500k Postgres instances.
• Participate in on-call rotation and drive operational excellence.
