Requirements:
  • 5-7 years of experience writing technical documentation with a portfolio of writing samples that exemplify your abilities as a Technical Writer.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of technical writing fundamentals, industry-standard writing styles, and content organization.
  • Ability to learn complex concepts quickly and explain them with clarity and technical accuracy.
  • Strong logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to establish rapport and working relationships with various personalities, working across multiple time zones.
  • Detail-oriented with a high sense of responsibility for outcomes and passion about the impact of what you develop.
  • Experience writing for a technical audience – Developers, DBAs, and DevOps Engineers
  • Working knowledge of databases and DevOps technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Interface or Instructional Design, Computer Science, or related field preferred, with 4 years of experience writing technical, procedural, and conceptual materials; or equivalent education and experience to successfully perform the job's essential duties.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other writers to create and revise existing technical content (release notes, installation and upgrade guides, user guides) in a fast-paced Agile environment.
  • Restructure existing content to a task-focused, modular documentation content model that makes it easier for people to find the content they need to self-serve.
  • Engaging our product team to keep on top of an ever-changing roadmap and understand requirements from a customer perspective.
  • Researching writing assignments using a variety of sources, including functional specifications, product requirement documents, product demos, using the product, analyzing customer feedback, and interviewing subject matter experts.
  • Working with Development and QA as features get completed to add the next layer of reference documentation and working examples that make it easy for customers to configure and use our new capabilities.
  • Learning Liquibase products to the level of power-user.
  • Telling the story from a customer point of view – what the feature is, why it’s essential, and how it will improve customers’ lives.
  • Providing usability feedback to product, design, and development teams to improve friction and make working with Liquibase easier and more delightful.
  • Upleveling our content strategy to increase content wayfinding and increase awareness of useful features.
  • Revamping our Style Guide and Voice & Tone Guidance so we can speak the language of our users while increasing comprehension and connection to the brand.
  • Using data to understand if your content is successful and what you can do to improve it.
