Requirements:

• Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for Axios’ mission.
• Preferably located in the South with a deep sense for the culture.
• Proven editing experience in a fast-paced newsroom; experience editing daily newsletters is a plus.
• A deep understanding of the South and how politics, business, tech, and culture impact the region.
• Ability to assign and manage multiple stories at once.
• Confidence working in a remote-first environment.
• Experience managing reporters at varying levels of seniority.
• A belief in Smart Brevity as the core style of Axios.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and edit the production of daily local news coverage in Axios Local's cities in the South.
• Work with reporters to help shape stories and edit in Smart Brevity.
• Assist with research on important topics, events, and trends driving the conversation.
• Write stories and newsletter items in partnership with reporters when needed.
• Manage multiple reporting teams in cities across the South.
