Requirements:

• Previous OPO experience approaching families for organ and tissue donation is required.
• Bachelor's degree in social work, health sciences or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in hospice care, bereavement counseling, crisis intervention, or social work preferred.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• Spanish and/or Portuguese language proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Fulfills a 12-hour on-call schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Obtains information from referring hospitals to assess potential donations.
• Approaches families for donation opportunities and provides education on the diagnosis of death.
• Advocates for donation while respecting cultural/religious beliefs.
• Maintains documentation regarding authorization and follows up with donor families after donation.
