Requirements:

• Strong experience in STM publishing, in an editorial capacity.
• Proven track record of strategic thinking and leadership.
• Self-driven with strong organizational skills.
• University science degree or equivalent, preferably at the MD, PhD, or equivalent level, with postdoctoral experience.

Responsibilities:

• Takes ultimate responsibility for editorial decision-making and content of the journal.
• Mentors and consults on journal processes to improve submission quality.
• Establishes benchmarks for editorial tasks.
• Leads recruitment, training, and retention of staff editors.
• Works closely with the Editor-in-Chief and other colleagues to develop and implement editorial strategy.
• Oversees manuscript handling and ensures content quality.
• Handles some research manuscripts from assessment to publication.
• Maintains an active Editorial Board.
• Represents the journal externally at conferences and with authors.
• Resolves ethics issues with the Publication Ethics team.
• Manages budget and resource allocations.
• Prepares reports on journal performance.
• Proactively identifies and solves problems.
