Requirements:

• Strong work ethic and sense of humor.
• At least 7 years of editing and team leadership experience at a major publication (preferably in technology).
• Experience formulating editorial calendars and content strategies using audience data.
• Ability to write and edit clearly and quickly with attention to detail.
• Strong editorial judgment with proven story packaging and headline writing skills.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Understanding of SEO principles.
• Comfort with CMS, image editing, and data visualization programs.
• Network of reliable freelance writers and data partners is a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of staff and freelance writers creating a mix of shorter and longer-form stories.
• Work with writers on data-based features and franchise ideas using testing and survey results.
• Create and maintain the editorial calendar, running weekly meetings to optimize coverage.
• Participate in daily morning news meetings to identify important stories informed by data.
• Drive both daily and long-term coverage plans in consumer technology.
• Mentor the team with feedback and support professional development.
• Collaborate with audience development to meet growth goals through compelling stories.
• Work with sales and marketing on coverage that generates revenue.
