Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent and medical coding education required or an active coding certification in lieu of education.
• Associate's Degree in a healthcare related field preferred.
• 1 year of progressive coding experience required, with specific experience for HCC roles being a must.
• 2 years progressive coding experience in multiple specialties preferred, along with prior FQHC coding experience.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize available encoder, grouper software, and other coding resources to determine appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes including specialty specific codes.
• Maintain understanding of National Correct Coding Initiatives, Local Coverage Documents, National Coverage Documents directives, Medically Unlikely Edits, and Medicare Teaching Physician Guidelines.
• Apply knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and institutional guidelines to select appropriate codes and modifiers.
