Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, geology or related field of study required.
• At least five years underwriting experience required, preferably in environmental or casualty excess and surplus lines.
• Environmental Consulting experience is a plus, including Phase I & II investigations and Environmental Site Assessments.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with initiative and the ability to work independently.
• A proven track record of A+ performance.
• Ability to travel.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and ImageRight.

Responsibilities:

• Underwrite Environmental Insurance coverage lines including General Liability, Contractors, Pollution Liability, Professional Liability, Premises Pollution Liability and Excess Liability.
• Manage assigned underwriting territory, including management of brokers and travel to broker offices.
• Establish and communicate underwriting profit goals and other measurements including loss ratio, new business development, policy count, account retention, etc.
• Analyze individual risks and book of business results to manage and control underwriting exposure and pricing strategy consistent with company objectives.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships within and outside Argo Group to develop and drive new business opportunities.
• Represent the company at networking functions and other industry-related events.
• Act as a role model demonstrating commitment to Argo Group's values.
