Senior Accountant - Germany / Remote

Requirements:

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent foreign degree
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Experience with NetSuite or equivalent ERP
• Business fluency in German and English
• Knowledge and experience with German GAAP and IFRS
• Experience in the corporate accounting function of a public company is desired
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Highly developed attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving and time management skills
• Team player with a positive attitude

Responsibilities:

• Mentor and train staff accountant
• Maintain the general ledger
• Assist with researching and resolving accounts receivable issues, including determining collectability concerns
• Process and record payroll on a timely basis
• Ensure timely recording and payment of vendor payables and liabilities
• Prepare accurate month-end and quarter-end financial close activities and reconciliations within required deadlines, ensuring transactions adhere to GAAP and internal policies
• Assist in the preparation and validation of financial statements and reports
• Prepare standard operating procedure instructions
• Identify risks and process gaps and implement solutions
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in accounting practices
• Assist with audit fieldwork, quarterly VAT filings, and cross-functional teams by answering accounting-related data requests
• Participate in ad hoc projects as needed
