Requirements:

• Current law students
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet research
• Initiative to see projects through to completion
• Commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, social justice, and international human rights
• Commitment to ACLU's mission
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity
• Knowledge of human rights frameworks and international human rights systems is a plus
• Knowledge of criminal legal system, racial and Indigenous rights and policing issues is a plus

Responsibilities:

• Conducting legal and policy research
• Drafting memoranda, affidavits, and briefs
• Researching prospects for new litigation, including factual and legal claims
• Researching and drafting materials for public education and human rights documentation
• Researching and drafting materials for advocacy before regional and international human rights bodies
• Other projects as assigned
