Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• Field of Study: Business, Liberal Arts or a related discipline.
• Experience: Generally, 3 to 6 years of related experience.
• Certifications preferred: Associate in Underwriting (AU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Program in General Insurance (INS), or Associate of Risk Management (ARM).

Responsibilities:

• Has responsibility for risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability.
• Underwrite primarily renewals for an assigned/established book of business.
• Analyzes coverage requests and decides on terms to offer.
• Meets or exceeds business production goals while ensuring profitability.
• Assesses risk quality and compliance and initiates loss prevention actions.
• Maintains effective business relationships with internal and external customers.
• Interprets and markets products and services.
• Establishes relationships with key trading partners and drives account retention.
• Applies underwriting rules, rating manual rules, and insurance laws.
• May provide guidance to lower-level positions.
