Requirements:

• Experience underwriting in the Mid-West / West Coast region of the United States required.
• Surplus lines Contract Binding Authority underwriting experience preferred.
• Recent experience underwriting general liability, property and inland marine required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Liberal Arts or a related discipline.
• Generally, 6 to 10+ years of related underwriting experience.
• Progression toward certification in area of expertise preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Develops and implements strategic underwriting plans for direct reports and assigned territory.
• Maintains strategic business relationships with external general agents.
• Leads and provides underwriting assistance and direction to team members.
• Monitors the performance and composition of the assigned territory portfolio.
• Responsible for risk selection, pricing, and application of underwriting guidelines.
• Works on product development projects to create guidelines and rates.
• Conducts visits with general agents to build relationships and develop new opportunities.
• Interprets and markets products and services.
