Director, Accounting Consultant (Remote)

Requirements:

• 8 years or more of related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business; Master's degree in accounting is an asset.
• CPA, CMA, CIA, or CFE preferred.
• Experience in public accounting, consulting, or operational accounting; Big 4 or large national firm experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP.
• Experienced with general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Knowledge of technical accounting is an asset.
• Outstanding knowledge of Excel and experience with various accounting software including large ERP systems (Netsuite, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics).
• Experience in process improvement.
• Strong service orientation, time management, and project delivery skills.
• Strong communication skills to facilitate projects among stakeholders.
• Ability to develop solutions independently with quick thinking.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Must be able to travel to clients as needed (approx. 30% of time).

Responsibilities:

• Lead month-end close process, maintain the general ledger, prepare and review journal entries, and analyze account variances.
• Ensure appropriate application of US GAAP by analyzing and reviewing transactions.
• Direct operational accounting, reconciliation, and reporting, and communicate with business partners to resolve issues.
• Perform various variance analyses and collaborate with leadership to monitor and report results versus forecasts.
• Implement processes to streamline activities and facilitate the resolution of issues impacting team performance.
