Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field OR equivalent combination of technical IT training, college coursework and experience.
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience administering Server technologies
Prefer one or more of the following certifications: MTA, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, VCP.
Experience with Windows Server Operating systems, Windows Clustering, Active Directory architecture and administration, Group Policy, Microsoft Exchange Server, IIS, System Center, VMware Virtualization administration, HP and Cisco server hardware management, Cisco UCS and HP iLO server management tools.
Ability to administer VMWare technologies.
Familiarity with network connectivity, PKI management, DHCP/DNS/WINS management, SMTP routing and messaging, TCP/IP networking and OSI protocol stacks.
Responsibilities:
Own complex customer issues which may take several days or weeks to resolve and keep our customers updated through every step of the process.
Assist in the engineering, design, and development of hardware, software, and networking systems.
Provide a framework for system development, maintenance, and enhancement efforts.
Implement standards and guidelines of OS support.
Analyze systems and performance usability testing to ensure performance and reliability, enhance scalability, and meet security requirements.
Install and configure server hardware and software consistent with established standards; develop new and modify existing standards where necessary.
Research and develop parameters for Server capacity planning, performance tuning and optimization
Help select and deploy third-party server tools to meet evolving business requirements.
Develop and maintain enterprise-wide server architecture and standards.
Perform server hardware and software upgrades.
Handle multiple assigned tasks concurrently, ensuring customer commitments are met
Work with project and production support teams to develop, implement and maintain administration processes and procedures
Provide after-hours and weekend on-call support for service-related issues.
Apply expertise and independent judgment in order to rapidly restore service when applicable
Work with peers to design and implement departmental projects and operational initiatives.
Proactively monitor infrastructure hardware, operating systems and applications; identify and recommend appropriate changes to server systems and application standards based on performance and availability needs.
Design, develop, test, debug and implement Windows operating system components, software tools, and utilities
Determine systems software design requirements
Train staff on the operation of server hardware and software.
Ensure that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency
Generate Systems Engineering policies, standards and procedures.
Analyze, acquire, install, modify & support operating systems, utilities and Internet/intranet-related tools.
Prepare feasibility studies and design tests to determine operating characteristics of software
