Requirements
- Deep PostgreSQL expertise (MVCC, bloat, lock contention, vacuum behavior).
- Experience with ORMs (Django, SQLAlchemy, ActiveRecord) at production scale.
- Hands-on experience with AWS DMS, replication slots, and schema evolution.
- Experience with pganalyze, Datadog DBM, or pg_stat_statements.
- Proficiency in CloudWatch and high-cardinality tracing tools like Honeycomb.
- Experience with OpenSearch, Redis, and production message brokers (SQS, RabbitMQ, Kafka).
- Automation skills in Python, Go, or similar languages.
- Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform or similar.
- Experience using AI coding and review tools.
Responsibilities
- Own database reliability across Aurora, OpenSearch, Redis, and our CDC pipeline.
- Perform schema design reviews and ensure migration safety.
- Optimize Django ORM performance and establish physical schema standards.
- Operate and evolve the CDC pipeline from Aurora to Snowflake.
- Build observability and instrumentation using pganalyze, CloudWatch, and Honeycomb.
- Drive multi-AZ resilience for Aurora, ElastiCache, and OpenSearch.
- Build self-service tooling for product and platform teams.
- Contribute to engineering onboarding and knowledge sharing.
