Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience within a mid-sized to large organization.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and controllership best practices.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, or equivalent).
- Experience working with large and complex financial datasets and analytical tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office and exposure to BI or financial reporting tools.
- Experience in retail or complex inventory-based environments is considered an asset.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, build trust, and foster a high-performance culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead accounting operations related to vendor funding programs, ensuring accurate treatment of promotions, discounts, and inventory-related financial adjustments.
- Oversee monthly close activities including GL reconciliations, journal entries, balance sheet and P&L variance analysis, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, internal policies, and control frameworks across all assigned accounting areas.
- Manage and support month-end deadlines by allocating resources effectively and maintaining high-quality deliverables.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve SOX and non-SOX processes to strengthen financial controls and reporting accuracy.
- Partner with internal and international stakeholders to support new business initiatives and provide accounting guidance on complex transactions.
- Lead, develop, and coach a team of accounting professionals, fostering engagement, performance, and continuous growth.
- Support financial reporting requirements, ad hoc analyses, and accounting research in collaboration with senior finance leadership.
- Drive process improvements and contribute to initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
