Oversee the production of rigorously reported, high-impact investigative journalism focused on the criminal justice system. Help develop and execute the newsroom’s evolving strategy, particularly focused on urgency, audience development and video capabilities. Manage editorial staff to ensure projects meet the overall objectives of the organization. Ensure that the journalism produced is accurate, timely, objective, and appropriate for the audiences the organization is targeting. Hire, coach and supervise personnel. Coordinate editorial publications and meetings. Plan and approve assignments for writers and editors. Manage schedules and oversee deadlines. Assist in evaluating finalized copy for compliance with the policies, style and tone of The Marshall Project. Attend events on behalf of The Marshall Project.
