Requirements:

• Experience in a technical leadership role and in people management or team leadership.
• Experience building and monitoring systems in distributed cloud environments (preferably AWS).
• Strong systems thinking skills, able to scale Java back-end services and analyze JavaScript payload sizes.
• Deep knowledge of Computer Engineering fundamentals and their application to the modern web.
• Hands-on experience in front-end (JavaScript) and back-end (ideally Java) domains.
• Appreciation for templating languages.
• Ability to guide and mentor team members, improving collaboration and idea sharing.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a small team (3 to 5 engineers) focused on building and extending web page bootstraps.
• Accountable for team delivery and ongoing delivery improvements.
• Partner with Product to shape the roadmap, balancing product outcomes with technical excellence.
• Contribute directly to coding to progress goals.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure platform fit for Canva's growth.
• Set technical direction through research and design documentation.
